There are several people in the history of ballet, whose contribution to its development is colossal. One of these is Sofia Nikolaevna Golovkina, who, after completing a brilliant career at the Bolshoi, devoted herself to caring for the future of Russian ballet. More than 40 years she headed one of the three main ballet schools in the world – the Moscow one and it was the golden era in its history!
And in jubilee year of the 105th anniversary by Sofia Nikolaevna, together with her granddaughter, Sofia Gaydukova, we made a collection dedicated to the legendary ballerina and teacher.
We tried to convey the spirit of that era in the models. We took a portrait created in 1938 from the family archive for a photo session. And we invited one of her most outstanding students, the People’s Artist of Russia, Prima Ballerina of the Bolshoi Theatre Maria Aleksandrova, to present the collection.
